Teresa Arechavala Roé

PhD in Biomedicine, Master of Science in Public Health, and bachelor’s degree in Biology. Technician in community health at Sabadell Town Council, and associate professor at the  Epidemiology and Methodology of Social and Health Sciences Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences in Manresa (UVic-UCC) teaching the courses of Biostatistics and Information Systems, and Community Physiotherapy. Member of the Epidemiology and Public Health UVIC-UCC/UOC Inter-university Research Group (GRESP). She has developed her research in the field of smoking and environmental exposure to tobacco and has joined several health promotion projects focused on children and teenagers.

Marina Bosque Prous

PhD in Biomedicine (UPF), Master of Science in Public Health (UPF-UAB), bachelor’s degree in Biology (UB) and bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition (UB) and Dietetics (UB). Main professor of Health Sciences Studies at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) and associate professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences in UManresa (UVic-UCC). Member of the Epidemiology and Public Health UVIC-UCC/UOC Inter-university Research Group (GRESP). She is currently the coordinator of the alcohol working group of the Spanish Society of Epidemiology (SEE). She has collaborated on several research projects in the field of drug addiction.

Laura Esquius de la Zarza

PhD from Universitat de Barcelona. Bachelor’s degree in Biology at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and a bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics at Universitat de Vic. In recent years, she has combined academic and scientific activity with professional tasks in the field of nutrition and health. Professor of Health Sciences Studies at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) and the Faculty of Health Sciences of Manresa, Uvic-UCC.

She is a researcher from the FoodLab research group, an interdisciplinary research group in food, nutrition, society, and health, consolidated (SGR 834) by the Agency for University and Research Grants’ Management (AGAUR).

Antoni Baena Garcia

PhD in Psychology from Universitat Ramon Llull. Graduate in Psychology from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). Specialist in the treatment and control of smoking with more than 20 years of experience.  Member of the Epidemiology and Public Health UVIC-UCC/UOC Inter-university Research Group (GRESP). At the moment, he is professor of the Health Sciences Studies at UOC.

He has worked at the Smoking Unit at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona and the Smoking Unit at Hospital Bellvitge in different projects on remote treatment of people who smoke; he has been the project manager at the Control and Smoking Unit at Institut Català de Tabaquisme. He is a member of the Psychology and TIC Commission of the Official College of Psychologists of Catalunya-COPC.

Alicia Aguilar Martínez

Phd in Biology from UB and MSc in Human Nutrition and Dietetics (UCA). Sub-director of teaching and professor of the Health Sciences Studies at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. She is a researcher at the FoodLab research group, an interdisciplinary research group on alimentation, nutrition, society and health, consolidated group (2017 SGR 834) by the Agency for Management of University and Research Grants (AGAUR), and a member of the assistant and executive committee of the UNESCO Cathedra in Alimentation, Culture and Development. She develops her research in the study of alimentary habits, nutritional education and the possibilities of the application of information and communication technologies in health promotion.

Main professor at the Universitat de Barcelona (UB), ESADE and Institut d’Estudis de la Salut. Deputy Director-General for Drug Addictions for the Public Health Agency of Catalonia (ASPC), Health Department, Generalitat de Catalunya. Director of the HVI, AIDS and Hepatitis Programme of the ASPC. President of the Public Director’s Club in ESADE. Project coordinator for the European Union. Adviser for the World Health Organization (WHO). Member of 20 scientific societies and committees. Founder of the International Network on Brief Interventions for Alcohol and other Drugs (INEBRIA) and of the Alcohol Policy Network (APN). He has developed his research in the field of drug addiction, HVI and Hepatitis.

Xavier Majó

Bachelor’s degree in Medicine from the Universitat de Barcelona (UB). Coordinator of the Drug addiction Information System and the Viral hepatitis control and prevention programme from the Public Health Agency of Catalonia. Until 2015 he was the coordinator of the harm reduction programmes of the General Subdirectorate of drug addiction of the Public Health Agency of Catalonia. In the 80’s he exercised as a doctor in different addiction treatment centres (CAS). He also participated in municipal drug addiction prevention programmes in Catalonia.  He has developed his research in the field of drug addictions, HVI, Hepatitis and AIDS.

Núria Obradors Rial

PhD from Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Master of Science in Public Health. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Main professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences in UManresa. Researcher at the Epidemiology and Public Health Group in UVic-UCC (GRESP). She has developed her research in the field of youth’s risky behaviours and territorial inequalities.

CEEISCAT Investigator

Jordi Casabona

Master’s in Public Health from Texas University (Houston, TX, 1986) and PhD in Medicine from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB, 1990). Director of the Center of Epidemiological studies on sexually transmitted infections and AIDS in Catalonia (CEEISCAT), dependent on the Health Department and located in Can Ruti’s campus since 1995; associate professor at the Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine subject at the UAB since 1992 and main professor at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) since 2014. He worked at the WHO (Gèneve 1989-1990), and he has been co-president of the XIV International AIDS Conference (Barcelona, 2002). He has led multiple international projects, both in Europe and South America through the Fundació Sida I Societat. He has published several books and more than 200 articles in his field of study.

Cinta Folch

PhD in Public Health and biomedical research methodology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the Universitat de Barcelona (UB) and a master’s degree in Public Health. Since 2000 she works at the Center of Epidemiological studies on Sexually Transmitted Infections and AIDS in Catalonia (CEEISCAT). She has coordinated research about behavioural monitoring of HVI and sexually transmitted infections in key populations. In the research field, she has been a member of the research team of different projects financed by the Direcció General de Salut I Protecció al Consumidor (DGDANCO) about the LGBTIQ+ community and other men who have sex with men (EMIS and Sialon projects).  In the academic area, in recent years she has collaborated as an associate professor of the Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine subject at the UAB, and she has collaborated as a teacher in the Specialization course on sexually transmitted infections and AIDS of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC).

Anna Torruella i Sanllehy

Professor of Geography and History of the Education Department. Coordinator of the Educational Services at the Serveis Territorials d’Educació de la Catalunya Central.

She coordinates the educational services specifically located in the ST zone (CREDA, EAP, CRP, ELIC) and the technicians of the educational services that take care of the digital culture, inclusion and long-term training, innovation and transformative education, training directed to teaching staff, multilingualism and foreign languages. She participates in innovative programmes about transformative education, training of executive positions and gender violence prevention programmes. She has been the head of the coordination and planification educational area of the Serveis Territorials d’Educació a la Catalunya Central. She has been the school principal in several high schools around the Central Catalonia for a long period of time.

Carles Muntaner

PhD. in Medicine from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), bachelor’s degree in Medicine in Universitat de Barcelona (UB) and Master of Science. Main professor in Public Health, Nursery and Psychiatry at the University of Toronto (UoT). Researcher in the field of social inequalities in health. Creator of a research program on employment relation and conditions/precarious employment models, constructs, and indicators, with applications in social/occupational epidemiology, public health, nursing, and health policy. He has been co-president of the Employment Conditions Network from the World Health Organization (WHO).
