Cinta Folch

PhD in Public Health and biomedical research methodology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the Universitat de Barcelona (UB) and a master’s degree in Public Health. Since 2000 she works at the Center of Epidemiological studies on Sexually Transmitted Infections and AIDS in Catalonia (CEEISCAT). He is currently a “Ramón y Cajal” researcher at the Center for Demographic Studies of the UAB. Carmen Vives Cases

Professor in the area of Preventive Medicine and Public Health at the University of Alicante (since 2018). PhD and Degree in Sociology (2004 and 1998 respectively). Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University Miguel Hernández (2005). Vice-Dean of Research, Postgraduate and Internationalization of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Alicante (2016-2021). Director of the Equality Secretariat of the UA since 2021. It is worth mentioning her dedication to the issue of gender violence from the perspective of public health, consolidated with her participation and leadership in various national and European projects. She has more than a hundred scientific publications of recognized quality with three sexenios of research and one of transfer granted by the National Commission for the Evaluation of Research Activity. In October 2019, she was named Doctor Honoris Causa by the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Umëa (Sweden).

Antoni Baena Garcia – Researcher at UOC

Member of the Epidemiology and Public Health UVIC-UCC/UOC Inter-university Research Group (GRESP). He has worked at the Smoking Unit at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona and the Smoking Unit at Hospital Bellvitge in different projects on remote treatment of people who smoke; he has been the project manager at the Control and Smoking Unit at Institut Català de Tabaquisme and the principal investigator in a study on the treatment of smoking in cancer survivors through social networks (beca FIS PI16 /01766). Xavier Majó – Researcher of the Health Department

Bachelor’s degree in Medicine from the Universitat de Barcelona (UB). Coordinator of the Drug addiction Information System and the Viral hepatitis control and prevention programme from the Public Health Agency of Catalonia. Until 2015 he was the coordinator of the harm reduction programmes of the General Subdirectorate of drug addiction of the Public Health Agency of Catalonia. In the 80’s he exercised as a doctor in different addiction treatment centres (CAS). He also participated in municipal drug addiction prevention programmes in Catalonia.  He has developed his research in the field of drug addictions, HVI, Hepatitis and AIDS.

Cinta Folch – Researcher from the CEEISCAT

PhD in Public Health and biomedical research methodology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the Universitat de Barcelona (UB) and a master’s degree in Public Health. Since 2000 she works at the Center of Epidemiological studies on Sexually Transmitted Infections and AIDS in Catalonia (CEEISCAT). She has coordinated research about behavioural monitoring of HVI and sexually transmitted infections in key populations. In the research field, she has been a member of the research team of different projects financed by the Direcció General de Salut I Protecció al Consumidor (DGDANCO) about the LGBTIQ+ community and other men who have sex with men (EMIS and Sialon projects).  In the academic area, in recent years she has collaborated as an associate professor of the Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine subject at the UAB, and she has collaborated as a teacher in the Specialization course on sexually transmitted infections and AIDS of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC).

Director of the Center of Epidemiological studies on sexually transmitted infections and AIDS in Catalonia (CEEISCAT), dependent on the Health Department and located in Can Ruti’s campus since 1995; associate professor at the Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine subject at the UAB since 1992 and main professor at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) since 2014. He worked at the WHO (Gèneve 1989-1990), and he has been co-president of the XIV International AIDS Conference (Barcelona, 2002). He has led multiple international projects, both in Europe and South America through the Fundació Sida I Societat. He has published several books and more than 200 articles in his field of study.

Also professor of the subject of Health Promotion of the Postgraduate in Public Health at UPF since 2014 and currently coordinates the subject. In her professional career at the Agència de Salut Pública de Barcelona she has been responsible for preventive community programs and health promotion. Carmen Vives Cases – Researcher at the University of Alicante

University Professor in the area of Preventive Medicine and Public Health at the University of Alicante (since 2018). PhD and Degree in Sociology (2004 and 1998 respectively). Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University Miguel Hernández (2005). Vice-Dean of Research, Postgraduate and Internationalization of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Alicante (2016-2021). Director of the Equality Secretariat of the UA since 2021. President of the Spanish Society of Epidemiology (2016-2018). Member of the CIBER of Epidemiology and Public Health since its creation in 2006. Principal Investigator in Projects funded in public calls of the National R&D&I Plan and European projects. Most of her research activity is focused on the study of social inequalities in health by gender, migration status or ethnicity, and age. It is worth mentioning her dedication to the issue of gender violence from the perspective of public health, consolidated with her participation and leadership in various national and European projects. She has more than a hundred scientific publications of recognized quality with three sexenios of research and one of transfer granted by the National Commission for the Evaluation of Research Activity. In October 2019, she was named Doctor Honoris Causa by the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Umëa (Sweden).

Cinta Folch – Researcher at CEEISCAT

PhD in Public Health and biomedical research methodology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the Universitat de Barcelona (UB) and a master’s degree in Public Health. Since 2000 she works at the Center of Epidemiological studies on Sexually Transmitted Infections and AIDS in Catalonia (CEEISCAT). She has coordinated research about behavioural monitoring of HVI and sexually transmitted infections in key populations. In the research field, she has been a member of the research team of different projects financed by the Direcció General de Salut I Protecció al Consumidor (DGDANCO) about the LGBTIQ+ community and other men who have sex with men (EMIS and Sialon projects).  In the academic area, in recent years she has collaborated as an associate professor of the Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine subject at the UAB, and she has collaborated as a teacher in the Specialization course on sexually transmitted infections and AIDS of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC).

Director of the Center of Epidemiological studies on sexually transmitted infections and AIDS in Catalonia (CEEISCAT), dependent on the Health Department and located in Can Ruti’s campus since 1995; associate professor at the Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine subject at the UAB since 1992 and main professor at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) since 2014. He worked at the WHO (Gèneve 1989-1990), and he has been co-president of the XIV International AIDS Conference (Barcelona, 2002). He has led multiple international projects, both in Europe and South America through the Fundació Sida I Societat. He has published several books and more than 200 articles in his field of study.
